(once-in-a-while the game still crashes while loading, during the Calibrate Audio / Calibrate Graphics phase, but at least now I can pretty much expect to get through an entire race distance at almost every attempt - which had become nearly impossible to do under AVG Anti-virus without the frustrating near-guarantee of a looming CTD, even when I temporarily disabled AVG just to play GP4). In case this is helpful for someone else still stuck in a similar situation I was in a year ago: It is just over one year later, and I have new hope for GP4, as I can start to see some progress regarding overcoming CTD issues - It has taken me this long to finally discover only now that AVG Anti-virus has been the BIGGEST part of my problems all long!!! The reason being, ever since I switched to Avast Anti-virus, GP4 CTDs hardly ever happens anymore, or it happens much much less now I have lost all hope of ever again being able to enjoy GP4 without constant CTD (sparing the unthinkable prospect of having to revert back completely to a Windows XP computer!!!)

That went OK as well.ĪLAS! Sadly after further testing, I am forced to come back here to update this post with very sad news: Even on my new upgraded-to-Windows-10-from-Windows-8.1 PC, GP4 still crashes regularly, just as badly as before!Įven after re-installing the game and playing on a fresh install with no decryption, no CSM, no Updates or Patches, no Mods, no GPxPatch, etc, the game still crashes fairly regularly. no CTD! So, it was Looking promising at first.Įspecially after I also loaded up 'Team Editor' by Lo2k to make changes to helmet and steering postions. Watched a race from start to finish, no issues there either.

With no major issues (yet!).įired up and ran GP4 via GPxPatch (as Admin, with Windows XP SP2 compatibility).
